As soon as it happens, look in the event Windows event viewer under Windows Logs/Application. It might give a clue. Not likely tho since it isn't an actual error in anything -- it is looking like the COM port is just not sending something, or is requesting something, the rig is responding, but the COM port isn't seeing it.
Are any non-FTDI USB COM ports involved?
