Amateur Data Interchange Format (ADIF) was conceived
by Dennis Hevener WN4AZY. He contacted Ray Ortgiesen IV
WF1B with the idea, and together they developed the
ADIF protocol for standardized data interchange
between ham radio software programs. It was debuted by Ray WF1B
at the 1996 Dayton Hamvention and quickly gained acceptance among ham software developers.
Dennis WN4AZY is the author of the LOGic amateur
radio software program and co-founder of Personal
Database Applications Inc. Ray WF1B wrote the WF1B RTTY
program.
Today, ADIF is an industry standard in amateur
radio software, and has taken on a life of its own.
