Hello Dennis ,

I migrated to Windows 8.1 Pro because , as you know , Microsoft no longer provides support for Windows XP.
I detected a malfunction in the use of SPOTLOG for the automatic insertion of QSOs.

With Windows XP it worked perfectly SPOTLOG excluding prints Awards. With Windows 8.1 Pro can not do more than three QSOs in sequence without recurrence of the problem.

You describe my equipment in use:

ICOM IC- 756Pro III and ICOM IC -7000 connected to the PC via two interfaces ICOM CT -17 and two adapters, USB- SERIAL (Prolific) who have never given any problems.

The VFO of the two radio interact perfectly with the logic9 USB_SERIAL and adapters are fully recognized by Windows 8.1.
The problem comes when I want to make a QSO by double-clicking on the window of SPOTLOG.

Logic9 I change frequency, mode and fills the fields in the LOG Main and displays the data on the name qrz.com.
After a few QSOs through commercials log Logic9 crashes.

I have to restart the Logic9 making the Clean and REINDEX archives. My PC is equipped with an Intel I3 processor 4Gb of ram.

I wanted to ask how can I solve this problem, because, personally, in the management of my business radio, use the log spot frequently. Thank you in advance for your answer.

Hi Mauro:

Thanks for your post. Sorry for the problem.

When LOGic crashes, is there an error message? If so, what does it say?

It may well be the Prolific drivers. You are lucky if they worked on XP. Do you have a regular RS-232 port (no USB), or a FTDI-based USB=>RS232 adapter to try?

You could try looking for updated Prolific drivers.

Let us know.

Tnx & 73,

Hi Dennis,
as you can see the frequencies of the devices are displayed properly, rotating the VFO of the radio.
By entering a name in the "LOG MAIN" and pressing TAB Logic works perfectly including all data including the frequency of the link when I made the connection.
I do not think it's a problem of USB_SERIAL Prolific I have never had a problem and Windows 8.1 during installation found automatically updated drivers without installing did in the manual. In addition, the USB_SERIAL Prolific work seamlessly with other software ham radio.Il problem occurs only when I use the "SPOT LOG" by clicking on a SPOT. Hi--

Can you please translate the error message on the second screen shot for me? I see "script", it may be a problem with QRZ.COM. Try turning that off.

Hello Dennis,
This is the translation of the error screenshot N°2.

Stop running the script?
One of the scripts on this page is slowing down the performance of the Web browser.
If you continue running the script, the computer may become unresponsive.

Yeah, it's apparently QRZ.COM. See the link in my past post.

Tnx & 73,

Dennis
