Since installing 9.1.3, I've received many error messages when using telnet.

I have it setup so that LOGic automatically connects to k1eu.dynip.com on start up. Been using it like this since 8.version 8.x.

When I open LOGic, and I don't see a telnet connection established, I hit "CON" in telnet 1 and I get this error message:

1429 OLE IDispatch exception code 0 from System: cannot access a disposed object.
Object name: 'System.Net.Sockets.Socket'...
Cannot Access a disposed object.
Object name: 'System.Net.Sockets.Socket'.

Only option is to hit OK.

Doesn't matter which node I try, I get the same error message.

If I close telnet 1 by hitting the "X" in the top right corner, I get the following error message:

OLE IDispatch exception code 0 from System: cannot access a disposed object.
Object name: 'System.Net.Sockets.Socket'...
Cannot Access a disposed object.

Only option is: Cancel/Ignore/Help

Ignore closes the error message window and I can open another Telnet 1 window.

Cancel shuts Logic down completely.

I re-installed 9.1.3 and tried another node and telnet 2 and get the same results.

Any idea what is going on?

Thanks,
Vin

Update: Now, I can't connect to any node with either telnet 1 or 2. Blushing

Hi--

That error

1429 OLE IDispatch exception code 0 from System: cannot access a disposed object.
Object name: 'System.Net.Sockets.Socket'...
Cannot Access a disposed object.
Object name: 'System.Net.Sockets.Socket'.

happens when the host disconnects. I fixed it, and am attaching the fix to this post.

However, I CANNOT connect to k1eu.dynip.com, PERIOD. Not with LOGic 1.3, 1.2, or with PuTTY. I don't get an error or anything -- it just looks like the host is disconnecting from any connect it receives.

Try these hosts:

k4uga.tsars.uga.edu:7300
dxc.w1nr.net
db0hgw.dyndns.org:4111

Hi Dennis,

The fix seems to have worked for any telnet node outside the 1 call area. This is so odd.

I'll stay logged in and let you know how it goes later today.

Thanks,
Vin

Does dxc.w1nr.net not work for you?

This works here too:
DXUSA.NET:7300

To test whether it is 1.3 or not, so as not to keep having to reinstall 1.2, use the telnet client built into Windows. Run a DOS command prompt. Type TELNET

type:
open [address]

Use a space instead of a colon for the port:
open DXUSA.NET 7300

Tnx & 73,

Yes, dxc.w1nr.net works going through telnet 1 or 2 in LOGic9.

I downloaded 9.1.3 again and telnet is working without the errors. I do notice quite a few of the nodes listed are no longer valid. I am testing each node now and will send the updated list once completed.

Thanks, but there is an automatic thing to do that. I'm running it here and going thru and fixing login.

FYI, what I am talking about: Click on SETUP, then the TEST tab.

It is giving some false OKs. I added the new telnet socket to it and it seems to be working now. I will run it a few times over the next few days in case some hosts are temporarily down. Then I will delete the bad ones (there's a button for that).

Tnx & 73,

DH

I contacted the node owner and he told me the node crashed. He reset it remotely and now it's up and running.

Thanks,
Vin
