Hi Dennis,
I've upgraded from .58 to .59 and now can't import ADIF data anymore: I get the error message "OLE error code 0x800a139b: Unknown COM status code.", after which LogIC9 crashes. I run WinXP SP3.
I tried going back to version .58, but couldn't.
Please help.

Sorry, I can't reproduce it here. Can you post the ADIF file you are trying to import, or email it to me?

(I notice that the ADIF window opens behind the main window. I just clicked on it's icon in the task bar.)

Hi Dennis,
Here is the first QSO from an ADIF file which did import successfully in .58 version, but generated the mentioned error in .59, making it to crash.

Dennis, please provide me with instructions on how to roll back version .59 to .58 without re-installing LogIC9 from scratch (if possible.)

The adif will import correctly in version 8.

Dan, I created an ADIF file out of your post, and it imported no problems. SRX is invalid -- not a number, but it didn't crash. When exactly does it crash for you -- when actually importing the data, before the preview appears, or when appending it to the log? How did you determine that was the QSO causing the problem? If you delete that QSO from the ADIF file, does it import OK or error on another QSO? Is it importing any records at all?

Theo, your data imported without error also. Make sure you have 8.0.58. I think it was .57 that had an error with ADIF.

The easiest way to roll back to an earlier update is to delete logic.exe (or better yet just rename it to LOGIC.EXX). Reinstall your original CD -- do not uninstall first! Then install your update of choice.

Say, try turning off Telnet, DXCluster, etc -- anything feeding spots to LOGic. Spotting has been known to interfere with the report writer, maybe ADIF import is doing the same thing?

Hi Dennis,
The ADIF QSO above is the first from a file which imported fine in version .58, but generates the error and crashes version .59. The error occurs at the very beginning of the import, right after I press OK on the ADIF file name.
By the way, some contests exchange require non-numeric SRX, as the one in the QSO above. Long time ago I converted the SRX field in LogIC8/9 to type character.
On the topic of reinstalling LogIC from CD, am I going to lose any of my customizations? I remember I had problems when going from LogIC8 to 9.

No, installing the CD on top of what's there should not affect any setup or customization. You can keep a copy of the LOGIC folder to be safe.

We need to figure out what the problem is though. I guess installing .58 would tell us something. If it still errors on the import then we know that it isn't the .59 update after all.

The only change made to ADIF import in .59 was to no longer put a space between the fields to save room. A very minor change.

As I stated above, the ADIF QSO data imported fine in version .58. Only after upgrading to .59 it started to give the error and crash the program.
I’ll roll back to .58 and keep you posted.

Hi Dennis,
Here's the latest on the topic:
I reinstalled LogIC9 from the CD, version .28.
With this version the above ADIF QSO data imported fine.
I've upgraded then to .50 version and tried the import again, but I got the error mentioned above!
None of the more recent upgrades worked either.
Therefore, I'm back to .28 and imported a whole new ADIF file from this past weekend's contest with no problems. Unfortunately, I can't download QSL's from eQSL.net.

Hi Dennis,
To fix the eQSL download problem, I started loading newer upgrades over the CD version (.28) mentioned in the post above. I found that the most recent version that imported correctly the ADIF QSO data was .47. Version .48 gave the import error.
Fourtunately, .47 downloads data from eQSL fine.
Hope this helps you troubleshoot the problem.

I tried the latest upgrade, .60, but still no luck. I had to roll back to .47. For me, this is a deadend.

Ok, for the information of anyone else who may run into this problem:

Dan kindly sent me his whole LOGic installation, and I was able to reproduce the error.

Somehow, a copy of prefix.dbf got put in the LOGic install directory (LOGic by default). It is supposed to reside only in the LOGic\data folder.

I fixed it by deleting prefix.dbf as well as pfxndx.* from the install folder, then reinstalling the latest update.
