Dennis

I recently realized that I had accidentally overwrote all of RIG: userfield data in all previous QSOs going back to beginning of log.
I have been able find that the error occurred at end of June. I have a copy of log.dbf from just before this date which has the corrected RIG information (and all correct information for all user fields) back to beginning of log.

Is there a way to replace RIG field for all contacts in current log QSOs (QSO Date<07/01/2012)with those from the old saved copy of log?

There are >40,000 records. I can send you copies of both logs.

Thanks

Hi--

Ok, first of all, you have log.dbf. But do you have log.fpt also? Log.fpt contains the notes and addresses. The two files should always travel together. If you do not have log.fpt, it is possible to recover everything except the notes and addresses.

Or better yet, do you have a backup made with tools/backup, or a copy of your whole LOGic folder?

Please advise.

Once we have a good backup, it is just a matter of doing a backup of what you have now, using tools/advanced/database commands to delete everything 07/01/2012 and after, then restoring your backup, using the option to "Append data", and "if a QSO is in your log and on the backup, Keep the QSO in the Log".

I can give more detailed info on doing this when we make sure we have a good backup as of 07/01/12. If you don't, we can still recover your data, it just won't be simple.

Tnx & 73, Dennis

Ok, great!

So make a backup of your current data in tools/backup.

Now copy your LOG.DBF and LOG.FPT from your old installation. Do a CLEAN UP INDEXES AND TEMPORARY FILES to resync the indexes. Start LOGic.

You now have your old database installed in LOGic. Let's delete everything 07/01/2012 and after. Go to tools/advanced/database commands. Type:

USE LOG
DELETE FOR QSO_DATE >= {^2012/07/01}

Now go to tools/backup restore. Do a restore, choosing the options "Append data", and "if a QSO is in your log and on the backup, Keep the QSO in the Log".

Enjoy!

Let me know if any questions.

Tnx for using LOGic.
