New PC here running Win 11 Pro and want to do a clean install of LOGic. Its been over 5 yrs since my last "New PC" install, at that time I just copied the old LOGic folder over and re-installed on top of it. Not the case this time !! I know I can copy my reports, logform layouts, form customizations, etc.. , these are simple.....BUT;

1) If I install LOGic from scratch then create all the same userfields I added, what's the best way to export my log and NOT lose all the userfield data, contest data, etc.. I'm pretty sure its not as easy as copying my log data from the old pc to the new one...is it ?
2) What else would I potentially lose ??

I'm doing this to hopefully resolve some of the issues I've beem having the last 2 yrs, especially printing and hopefully the latest issue of not being able to get an update from LOGics updater. Some other minor glitches I hope to eliminate as well.

PS: The old Win 10 PC is still in use until the new win 11 machine is fully functional.

Thanks,

Brad K8ZM

Brad, I would copy/paste the entire logic directory, this will preserve all your customizations. This will have no effect on the "clean install" that has happened inside the registry. Once done, apply the latest update and you should be good to go.

Hi Doug !!

I've always done that but I have had several issues with LOGic over the years and want to insure I dont have some random glitches buried in the old files. What I would really like to do is:

Export from current LOGic (old PC) my entire log with all custom userfields included
Install LOGic (new PC, like a new user), then create all my existing custom userfields
Selectively bring over some logforms, reports, etc.

Hopefully Dennis will chime in as I will probably need him to send me a direct link for an install, i'll probably call him since I'm getting close to installing ham apps.

Thanks much for the suggestion !!

After a couple days chasing bad brand new RAM, the PC was ready for LOGic.

I did a totally clean install......SMARTEST move ever !! Only had ONE error (VFPar.dll is invalid or damaged) which Dennis advised may be false and to just run LOGic....it worked and zero other errors for the remainder of the install. This was a first for that !!!
More than several "old issues" (still counting) are now non-existent, regardless of that, the difference is quite noticeable. Highly recommend NOT bringing old baggage when doing re-installs or hardware upgrades ! While not as simple as just copying the old LOGic folder over and installing over the top, it was easy grabbing the important files, what takes a little time is the logforms and reports. But a few hours of diligence will pay off.

New PC is Intel i9-12900k, 3.2GHz, 64Gb Ram, Win 11 Pro. Pc is MicroCenter's PowerSpec, this my second and highly recommended. Service and Support is second to none.....at least here near Cleveland OH !!!!
Ham related software all installed and running as well, LOGic, (3) Instances of Win4Icom (IC-7610,7300,9700), (2) instances of WSJT-X-improved and (1) instance of GridTracker.

Performance with all Apps running is 3% CPU on average (it peaks to 5% or more when digital decoding is very high). Memory is at 13%.

Thanks to all who offered support, especially Dennis !!

Now to plan for CQWW....
