When I run a card needed report for DXCC, the report shows E6 as unworked. When I run a DXCC report, it shows as worked, cfmd both paper and LoTW. All of the contacts I've had from there were as ZK2, not as E6. Both prefixes are in the prefix table. I've done awards progress update a couple of times. Any ideas?

Hi Doug, hope you are well !!

With the ZK2 entry you most likely have a DXCC count of 341 (undeleted) and should be 340. In the prefix Table, add the prefix ZK2 to E6 and delete the standalone entry for ZK2 and rerun Awards Update, all should be good.

Thanks Brad....hope you're well also!

Here's the thing....I have no standalone entry for ZK2 in the prefix table. Like the pic you included, I have ZK2 as an acceptable E6 prefix.

Maybe....

In list of valid values (DXCC) you have a ZK2 ?
Take a look at the DXCC field in the Logform window, is it E6 for all the ZK2's ?

No, none were worked as E6, so they are listed as ZK2. And that's kinda the point, it shouldn't matter as both prefixes are valid.

I think thats the problem. The DXCC field is the DXCC entity, the DXCC entity Niue has an associated DXCC entity "prefix" of E6 as shown in the Lists of Valid Values for DXCC. The Prefix Table lists for E6 the prefixes ZK2 and E6, so, logging ZK2EB would fill the DXCC field with E6, Niue. If you logged E6FF it would also fill the DXCC field with E6, Niue. Same theory for a US station, working N8GLS would fill the DXCC field with K, likewise working WA8MUE would fill the DXCC field with K, not a W, as K is the DXCC "prefix" associated with DXCC entity USA, the prefix table defines the myriad of possible prefixes for USA, K.

I have E6 and ZK2 in the log as well, all have DXCC field as E6, the DXCC List of Valid Values only has one entry for Niue, E6, there is no ZK2. Likewise the prefix table, as shown in the previous attached pic, only has one entry for E6 but with valid prefixes E6 and ZK2.

If you changed the DXCC field for all the ZK2's to E6 it would all be correct.

OK, yes that fixed it. But (isn't there always) why did it only happen with ZK2? In the dark recesses of my mind, I recall having to deal with this years ago, just didn't remember it. Niue isn't the only entity to have a prefix change since I started using Logic at, IIRC, version 2....but it's certainly the only one I've ever seen with this issue. Thankfully, it only amounted to 1/2 dozen QSO's, so it was easy to fix. Many thanks for help, Brad!

Geeze, your memory is WAY better than mine. So that got me thinking and it turns out I had this same issue 2 yrs ago (do a forum search on Niue and you'll laugh). At that time the DXCC List of valid values had ZK2 AND E6 as Niue, the DXCC entity count was 341 when it should have been 340, deleting DXCC ZK2 and adding ZK2 to the Prefix Table for E6 resolved the issue. Dennis couldnt guess as to why there were (2) entries for Niue either as his at the time had only (1) and it was E6 not ZK2. This one I think falls into the category of "rare".

73 and glad it worked !!

Dennis will probably chime in with some obvious revelation I/we completely missed !!!

Brad, you are prescient. I just checked my list of valid values, and guess what's there!! So, now the question is how did it get back into the mix? I just as an experiment, deleted ZK2 from the list of valid values....wrong thing to do. Doing a progress update returned errors for all ZK2 callsigns.

If I'm following all of this correctly, all of the log records with ZK2 in the DXCC field need to be changed to E6. When a prefix change happens, the update runs a bit of code to update that. That got missed somehow.

But it is still easy to fix. Back up your log. They type (hitting Enter after each line):

USE LOG
REPLACE DXCC WITH "E6 " FOR DXCC="ZK2 "

You can copy and paste, one line at a time.

By the way, the prefix table has nothing to do with DXCC tracking. All that matters is what is in the DXC field in the log form. The prefix table does log the correct DXCC for you automatically. Most of the time hihi.

Tnx/73,

Dennis WN4AZY

Thanks, Dennis. As this only impacted 6 qso's, it takes longer to do the batch command than it does to just go in and fix it manually, which is what I did.

Thanks Doug !!

So what happened was deleting ZK2 from the DXCC list "if" ZK2 was still the DXCC entry would create errors as ZK2 would no longer have been a valid DXCC entry. I should have thought to mention changing each QSO with DXCC of ZK2 to E6 BEFORE deleting ZK2 from the valid value list.....sorry I didn't think to do that.

Anyways, glad you got it all ok and glad it was only a handful of QSO's you had to muck with !

Best 73, Brad K8ZM

And thanks as well Dennis for all the thanks !
