I accidentally deleted the thread about the K3 driver. Here is the last post I managed to save:

Quote:
I download the K3 driver (AND A BIG T-H-A-N-K Y-O-U-!-!-!).

Most functions work as specified, however:

1. Pressing spl or dl results in the following error message: "Expression is not valid outside of WITH/ENDWITH."
Pressing ignore clears it.

2. Cnr and Rr do not work.

3. Step size has not effect on up/dn buttons. (Might I also suggest that after holding the up/dn button for a period of time, that the rate increases by sum factor...?)

Thanks and sorry for the last erroneous post.

Allen N5XZ

Most welcome. No sweat on the post.

I found the problem with SPL generating an error "Expression is not valid outside of WITH/ENDWITH." Could find no problem with DL (dual).

Found problem with Cnr (not supported -- supposed to be Cr. Fixed. Could not find problem with RTTYR.

I think it is just a misunderstanding on the step size & up/down. The step size affects the spinner arrows in the green freq display, NOT the UP/DN buttons. I put additional hover text there to clarify this.

Anyway, here is the latest K3 iteration.

K3 driver, Win XP

Good work Dennis only a few quirks.

Set Rig works but sometimes I have to click it twice to change to the correct mode.

DL - puts rug in split

Cr - reverse not working changes to CW
Rr - reverse not working changes to RTTY

These are the only things I'm seeing but will play with it more.

THANKS!!

Hi Dennis

Please tell me with driver tom use if it is the K3 then it is not working ok on my window 7 64bit.
Also the Alert is not function ok. If I tap alert then the alert is first visible in the alert window after the SpotLog window have been close and open.
"Just fund out" after Scroll Up/Down, I think it need a Form/ListBox Validation or Update

Thanks Kyle--I fixed the CWR & RTTYR I think.

OZ3FI, you want to use the ELECRAFT_K3 driver. If that is what you are using and it is not working, please describe the problem.

Could not reproduce the problem with the Alerts window. Will let it run a while and see if it continues to update.

Tnx/73,

DH

I cannot get LOGic 9 to control the frequency on my K3. DTR and RTS seem to hang up my K3 and are not stable. Doesn't look like the K3 driver works for me.

Dennis:

The new K3 driver is more functional but does the same thing as the non-legacy Kenwood driver - it times out to all zeroes on frequency after awhile. Any click on the driver buttons or movement of the main dial on the K3 itself will reset the frequency ... for awhile.

I've had no problems with LOGic losing the freq data from my K3 since the new driver was installed. Also, I used to have a problem with LOGic 8 crashing sometimes when the qrz.com was accessed or when I double clicked on the spot log to enter an entry into the log. No crashes since LOGic 9 was installed.

However...

Clicking on a 6m phone spot put in into CW REV.

Thanks, Dennis.

This is really sounding like a rig problem. With the K3, most Kenwoods, and Icoms, LOGic just sits there and waits for the data to be sent, and updates the display accordingly. It does not continuously poll as with the Yaesu line.

HOWEVER, LOGic does poll the K3 and the like when it NEEDS the frequency for something -- like logging a QSO. USUALLY when the frequency goes to zero, it is after LOGic requests the frequency. In this scenario, LOGic will time out and disconnect from the rig. You have to do TOOLS/RESET RADIO & ROTOR INTERFACES to bring things back to life.

But as you describe it, the rig is apparently sending zeros to LOGic. I say this because you say once you turn the dial, it sends the correct frequency again. LOGic hasn't actually timed out. If it didn, you would have to RESET.

Next time it happens, try logging a QSO and see if the correct frequency is read.

I guess it is possible that LOGic is somehow blanking the display on its own. Is it just sitting there and goes to zero, or is there some action that causes this? I can test on my icom I suppose. The frequency display is the same for all rigs.

Ok, does it do this just for 6M, or any CW spot? What about setting it from the log? The CW button?

Tnx & 73,
