Dennis, the prefix table segregates the old Y** calls and DL calls as east and west Germany, but in the DXCC window they are both shown Federal Republic of Germany. The Y** calls should be shown as the deleted entity German Democratic Republic, should they not? The start and end dates should read 09/17/1973 - 10/02/1990?

Hi Doug:

I think I am right on this one.

http://www.arrl.org/file...%20DXCC%20Current_a.pdf

Look at the DA-DR, #230 entry. Then go to footnote 14, which says

Quote:
(DA-DR) Only contacts made with DA-DL stations September 17, 1973, and after, and contacts made Y2-Y9 stations October 3, 1990 and after, count for this entity.

I remember raising an eyebrow at this one myself. Apparently the Y calls were used after unification for a while.

There is already a prefix entry for the Y calls and old communist Germany 09/17/1973 - 10/02/1990 that you suggest.

Are you having problems with a particular QSO?

Tnx/73,

Dennis

I think there may actually be a problem with the list as shown on that link and the way it's been worded.

No problem with a specific call, but when you do an ADIF report to send to Clublog, all of the DA/DL and Y** calls get an exception as they are shown as Fed. Rep. of Germany instead of the GDR. If I'm not mistaken, this happens because of the way it's listed in the prefix index. There are others with similar problems, but I have a bunch of these DA/DL/Y** in my log.

ETA:
OK, there are 4, DL listings in the prefix table:

DA, has no start date, end date of 9/16/73.
DL, DN prefixes for training stations, start date 9/17/73, no end date.
DL, D(A-LO-R) prefixes, start date 9/17/73, no end date.
DL, Y(2-9), DM prefixes, start date 10/3/90, no end date.

All 4 say Federal Republic of Germany. I don't see how LOGic is finding and or reporting the deleted entity of German Democratic Republic. Am I missing something?

73, Doug

Have you been installing the latest prefix tables with the updates?

This is what I have:

Dennis, went and did some searching on this, and here's what I've found.

For starters, look at the ARRL Deleted Entity list ( www.arrl.org/files/file/...%20DXCC%20Deleteds_a.pdf ), not the current DXCC list.
See notes 18 and 19.

Here's the problem...I have several Y(2-9) log entries from the 1970's and 1980's. All of those entries DID NOT become credit for the Federal Republic of Germany on 10/03/1990 (ARRL entity code 230). They still count for the deleted entity German Democratic Republic (ARRL entity code 229). If I do an ADIF export, the will all show up with an entity code of 230, leading to an error when submitting the ADIF file to ClubLog.
It looks to me like there needs to be a couple more entries in the prefix table to make this all work as it should.

Sorry, but I am still not seeing a problem with the DXCC table:

Note that the prefix table has NOTHING to do with exporting data or assigning the proper ARRL number. It's all to do with the DXCC field. Look at the problematic QSOs and look at the DXCC field. Fix as appropriate. Apparently the improper DXCC designator got logged somehow.

Happy new year & 73,

Dennis WN4AZY

PS I don't see any problem with the prefix table either. Note that the prefix entries for deleted entities would only come into play when importing old data that does not have the DXCC specified. You can't enter these in real-time. I suppose you could set your clock back and enter them, but I haven't tried it hihi.
