G'Day Dennis,

I gave up! I have been trying to solve this puzzle, but I am not getting anywhere.

On the Spot log form there is a Filter button. If one points at the button a "tool tip" appears. I would show you a "snapshot" but I found it impossible to take one - when I touch the keyboard, the "tool tip" closes.

So I transcribed the 2 lines of tooltip. It reads ...

1: Enter search value at left to perform quick filtering. Clear box at left and click here for advanced filtering.
2: Filter:(modest>=thisform.spot_level or bandst>=thisform.spot_level or mixedst >= thisform.spot_level or bandmodest >= thisform.spot_level)

What is that telling me? What facility is it indicating that I can use?

I use the quick filter, and understand the advanced filtering - no problems.

Thanks.

My Priority: Low.

G'Day All,

And with hints from Dennis elsewhere it all makes sense.

When one points at the filter button, the tooltip is telling you that the spot log is/is not being filter.

If Show ALL is checked. The second line of the tooltip is gone - no filter applied to the spot log.

If Show All is NOT checked, the spot log is being filtered to reflect the the other settings one has made on the Options panel of the Spot Log form.

Filter:(modest>=thisform.spot_level or bandst>=thisform.spot_level or mixedst >= thisform.spot_level or bandmodest >= thisform.spot_level)

thisfrm.spot_level comes from the "spot level" section of the options panel. (Now its obvious!!!!)

modest(atus) bandst(atus) mixedst(atus) and bandmodest(atus) come from examining the spot and the log, and the spot will only appear if any of these values exceeed the "spot level" selected on the Options panel.

From the spot data, and by searching through one's QSO log, each status item takes the values ...

* Fulfilled = 0
* Requested = 1
* Worked = 2
* Unworked = 3

Thanks again Dennis. Great work. Love how Logic works. The only limitation is ME!

Peter
I'm hoping you can help me here. I have managed to change a setting on my spot filtering and I am not seeing spots unless I have the "show all" button checked. When "Show all" is checked I get all spots, however none of the spots have a colour indication. When I put the mouse over the filter button on the spot log, and the show all in NOT ticked, the second line of the tool tip reads:

filter: thisform.needed()

I have obviously made a setting I now need to correct. Can you assist me please? Confused

Having the same problem here :-( Let me look at it. Likely not something you did.

Tnx Dennis

I really thought I had changed something I shouldn't have. Thanks for the very quick response and update.

Hi Dennis
Downloaded the update and everything is working fine, still seeing the filter: thisform.needed(), but the spot log seems to be working correctly.
Thanks again

thisform.needed is what is done internally to show only needed items. We were getting errors when the quick filter expression got too long, so we rolled the expression needed to see if something is needed or not into a form method. It has been this way for a while as I recall.

Thanks,

DH
