Hi Dennis. In the last year or so, I have found several cases where LOGIC thinks QSOs were uploaded but they were not. It doesn't happen often. But in each case, no errors were reported during the upload process. Is there any way to verify uploads, to be sure that LOTW actually has them?

Thanks, Bob

Bob,

If the problems all happened in the December last year and first half of January this year then the ARRL was having problems with LoTW. Logs submitted would upload correctly then be overwritten by later submissions. The ARRL corrected the problem around mid January with a hardware upgrade.

Right now logs process in about 1/2 hour. You can check back in and see that they made it. I used to do that for all of my submissions but never found any problems and I never lost a log while the ARRL was having problems so I have quit checking.

Hi Bob,

I can confirm what Bill is saying - but I would put it at late November, to mid December uploads for LOTW - missing log entries on ARRL LOTW. I experience failed uploads because of failure to log in to LOTW during the period, but I have never had QSOs go missing.

There is/was an explanation of the error on the ARRL site - although I cannot now find it. Essentially the LOTW system was designed to queue log uploads for later processing, usually immediately, but, in late November the queue became so long that the temporary file naming algorithm started re-using file names before the log for which the name had been originally allocated had been processed. The bug was fixed in mid December, but they then had such an enormous queue it took weeks to clear.

Your uploaded log may have been totally discarded/overwritten, or partially processed.

Only you will know if you uploaded QSOs during that period. Either way, simply upload your QSOs for the period that covers your missing entries.

The bug has been fixed, more equipment is to be installed to shorten the queues, especially after a contest, and there is now a real time queue status page you can check. It is at http://www.arrl.org/logbook-queue-status.

In December the queue was 16 days long. Now it is usually seconds, sometimes a few minutes long.
