Hello Dennis

over the years I've kept DOK in the comment section

dok: etc

from my last printed report in 2011 i have made
many additional entries but when trying to print
an updated list all the newest entries do not update
internally.

Of course I do regular data.

I have other small issues re the comment column and
other user defined names but we take one at a time

Ok, so you want to move data from the comment field to a user-defined field, right? Is there any terminator in the comment field? For example,

DOK:12|

that correct...all sub awards in comment column have termanators

when I try to print out a list they dont update to include new entries
despite many refresh or update... the new entries are all the same format
so dont understand problem

The comment field is not used to store user-defined fields! There is a special field for that called UserFields. It is normally not visible directly, but you can see it by opening the Userfields log form. This log form is for diagnostic purposes only. You never type anything directly into the Userfields field. You type into the user-defined field itself. For example, CQZ is a user-defined field. When logging, you use it like any other field. The only difference is how it is stored in the database.

How did the user-defined data get in to Comments? Did you just type them in the comment field directly? I am wondering if we can just copy Comment to Userfields.

As suspected, you do have some DOKs entered as user-defined fields--1517 records to be exact, but you have 2204 records with DOK in the comment field. As we discussed on the phone, LOGic does not track awards on data entered into the comment field. It may be used to mark QSOs whose card has been submitted for an award, but not CQZ, DOK, IOTA, DXCC, etc.

Here is a way to transfer DOKs from the Comment field to Userfields:

Make a backup!

Go to tools/advanced/database commands.

Type

Quote:
USE LOG

REPLACE ALL USERFIELDS WITH TAG_EDIT(USERFIELDS, "DOK:", TAG_VAL("DOK:", COMMENT))
