I want to be able to add a statement to some of my reports to print the current version number. Something like v10.00.34 or similar. Is this possible ??

This is the expression you will use:

GetVersion(4)

Hi Dennis,

Tried using this but get "can't find GetVersion(4)". Does it need a table reference like Global or Report ?? I found Version in the Reports table but it only returns the 1st number of the last 2 numbers in the version, i.e., if version was 10.0.35, its returning 3 but not 5. It looks like its only a 2-character field but not sure why it would'nt return 35. Don't know if or where this Version variable is used but since it partially works is it possible to make it 8 characters, i.e. 10.00.35?? GetVersion(4) I guess is supposed to return the last 4 characters of the version number??

Sorry, I'm missing something......surprised??

Not sure what is going on. Same old story, it works here. You don't have to do anything to set up for it. Just add the expression to the report.

First check Help/About and make sure you really have version 10.0.35.

Then go to tools/advanced/database commands. Type

? getversion(4)

followed by {Enter}. It should display 10.0.35.

I admit I never actually tested it in the report writer. But it works. See the attached example. I added getversion(4) to the northwest corner of the page. Uncompress into the REPORT folder inside where LOGic is installed.

It "always" works over there !!! BigGrin

So, why I "thought" it didnt work is because I added it to a report, then in the expression builder clicked on "Verify" and it reported "Invalid subscript reference". So just assumed it would'nt work.....BUT....as usual, I went back and added it anyways, ran the report and like MAGIC....there it is !

Sorry, but I did mention "I must be missing something" Confused

Not sure why Verify doesn't see it. Will play around when I get a chance.
