A couple of weeks ago I updated to LOGic 9.0.42.
Though I am not positive about the cause, subsequently I have been getting a Program Error message irregularly:
"OLE IDispatch code 0 from System: The I/O operation has been aborted because of either a thread exit or an application request"
Most times no matter what my response, LOGic just crashes and closes.
My transceiver is an Elecraft K3 with the P3 Panadapter all connected to my computer via a Serial/USB adapter. The computer is running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit.
Any suggestion welcome please.

PS. Since the update it is great that clicking on Help no longer causes LOGic 9 to crash...

Is the USB adapter FTDI-based? Look in the Windows Device Manager.

If so, that is not the problem. If it is Prolific, then that is probably the problem.

Tnx/73,

Thanks Dennis. I checked and it is a FTDI device. The driver is 2.8.2.0 dated 12/7/2010.

Today I've been taking more notice of when it happens. As I am rotating the VFO B knob on the transceiver I see the special Elecraft K3 buttons at the bottom of the LOGic 9 screen acting unusually. Irrelevant buttons seem to be pressed without me actually clicking on the mouse or changing them on the transceiver. Almost always this is when the error message occurs.

Main reason I have been twiddling VFO B is as I have been chasing 7O6T - 2 bands so far and an all time new entity for me, #315 of current and #320 including deleted; bit of a battle with only 100 watts though!

Ok, what version of LOGic do you have (help/about)? Which driver are you using? It should be ELecraft K3, number 55. I haven't had any reports of any problems since the last fixes.

Thanks Dennis.

My LOGic 9 version is LOGic 9.0.42. (advised in my first posting).
The radio interface is set for Elecraft K3 #55 though way back when I first used LOGic 9 somehow I did not find that as an option and had been using Kenwood 850 for a while.

More use over the last few hours has suggested the problem arises due to other K3 operations than using VFO B like it is clashes during the polling maybe?

Ok, I think I see the problem. We added polling to support the TS-2000 to the Kenwood line of drivers. You want polling OFF for the K3. It is off by default. Try that and let me know.

Thanks Dennis.

Someway I did not pick up on this reply until today so I have not yet tried switching polling OFF yet.

However, I did slow down the polling and that seemed to help a bit but the error was still happening, until this morning!?
When I started my computer today my Eset antivirus software reported the need for a critical update.
When I tried to install that it failed. Help suggested I run a Microsoft Fixit program. Once I did that and restarted the computer the critical update installed OK. And "touch wood" as we say, I have not experienced the program error message in the last 15 minutes or so since.

Another thing I noticed in the available updates list were two for the FTDI device dated in April 2012. I may need to look at those too.

I'll keep an eye on it for now, but hopefully it may be solved.

Thanks

Since sending the last message, I have checked the radio interface settings and as I see it I did not have polling switched ON anyway !!!
The delay I had made near the bottom of the window probably had no effect as polling was not checked at the right side of the Elecraft K3 settings.....

I think it may have been polling even if it was off. Get the .043 update, and I think that will fix it. We had someone report the same thing you did and have not heard back since .043 came out, so I ASSume it is ok hihi.

Let me know pse.

Thanks for this new information Dennis.
Currently I am away from home for 2 weeks so I will not be able to experiment with the K3 and the .43 update. I will do the update after I return home.
Meantime I plan to download LOGic 9 onto a laptop at my current location and will have it connected to a Yaesu FT920 so an entirely different setup.
I will get back to you once I am home.

Way back in May I followed your advice about updating to 043. You said this turned off polling the K3 and sure enough IT WORKED !! THANK YOU !!! The problem I had was fixed and a great relief that was to me. Subsequently the issues I had with errors during split operation are a distant memory.

Thanks Dennis

Ok, great news! We are on .047 now though. It is on the second page of LOGic 9 updates. There is a link on the first post to jump there, or just click the last page thingy.

Tnx & 73,

DH
