I have something like 100 files containing activations of various POTA parks. Is there a way to do a batch import of these? It would be rather tedious to do them one at a time. I know that I should have import each one at the time I did the activation, but I've let them pile up. I have probably a year and half worth. I'll blame my laziness in importing on the pandemic. Isn't that the boilerplate excuse now! ;-) Seriously, any help would be appreciated. -- 73 de Carl N8VZ

Carl,
Before LOGic had direct WSJT-X import capabilities, I'd dump it's log in ADIF format, massage in an editor like Kate, import, go through the added QSOs for missing fields, Update Awards-in-Progress. You might have to convert to CSV before the import/massage as ADIF might not support all the fields you need. As far as combining the files, a Python script or your preferred editor (Kate, Npp+, UltraEdit) should do that.

Sorry if this just states the obvious.

Don,

I don't believe that these ADIF files need to have any fields added or adjusted. They were all created either with FLE or for more recent activations by the HAMRS app on my iPad. These files have all been successfully uploaded to the POTA website by the POTA District 8 manager. My issue is solely an efficient way to import all of them into LOGic 10. I'm not proficient in Python, but I'm willing to learn. Thanks for your input.

Is this just a list of parks that you have worked, or actual QSOs with parks?

The latest update to LOGic includes the complete POTA database. If you need to import QSOs, and they are ADIF, it is simple to do. Of it is in some other format, LOGIc's generic im-porter will likely do it. See IMPORT AND EXPORT in Help.

These are actually ADIF files of each activation. I know how to import them one by one, but I was wondering if there's a way to batch import them. As I said in the initial post there are upwards of a hundred of these files, so doing them one at a time will take awhile. I can do that if it's the only way, but I just wanted to inquire about the possibility of batch importing.

I just installed the latest update. I was several behind. Thanks for the reminder.

Ok, so are you saying there are a bunch of ADIF files, each with one QSO in it? Where did you get them?

Please go ahead and paste the contents of a couple here.

No, each ADIF file has from 10 to 50 or so QSOs. They are either from the iPad App HAMRS or hand entered by me after an activation using the FLE (Fast Log Entry) program.

Here are two of the most recent ones:

Ok, here's an idea.

I copied and pasted your two ADIF files into one big one. Everything imported OK. The extraneous header info is ignored.

So I don't know if that saves any work or not.

Perhaps you can find a utility to append a directory-full of files, or do it in DOS:

COPY file1.adi+file2.adi+file3.adi total.adi

Also try

copy *.adi c:\total.adi

Play around with it and let us know.

Thanks Dennis, I’ll try “copy *.adi c:\total.adi”, which looks promising to me and report back. — 73 de Carl N8VZ

Sorry for the delay in reporting back, Dennis, but I just actually got around to trying this today. Bulk copying using copy *.adi c:\total.adi worked FB. Now all safely in LOGic. Thanks for the help. BTW, when you have time please email or text me your contact information. I recently changed cellphone providers from AT&T to T-mobile. Somehow in the process I lost about 1/3 of my contacts. Yours was one of them. -- vy 73 de Carl N8VZ

Now, I have another wrinkle related to these imports. I'd like these fields:

<my_sig:4>POTA
<my_sig_info:6>K-3464

to be imported into the CONTEST ID field thusly:

"POTA K-3464"

The park number, K-3464, in this example, of course, changes from activation to activation. By importing it this way, it makes it easy for me to export activations at each park to LOTW with the correct location.

Dennis, or anyone else that's dealt with this issue, please let me know if there's a way to accomplish this feat!

Carl

Ok, it is no problem to import my_sig_info into contest id. Just set go to tools/setup/log fields and change the ADIF name for the CONTEST_ID field to my-sig-info.

Use tools/advanced/database commands mass change to insert POTA at the start of the Operator field. Make a backup first. Then type these commands:

USE LOG
replace operator with "POTA " + OPERATOR for OPERATOR="K-3464"

I used the screens in LOGic to make the above commands. For more info on mass change, see https://youtu.be/5d5gyJVFQEs

Please like/subscribe.

Let me know if any questions.

Tnx & 73,

Dennis WN4AZY
