Been working the CQWW contest for a few years and a couple times noticed the scoring in LOGic did not match the contest robot's scoring. This year no different, but, I did realize that the country counts for CQWW and the CQ DX Marathon include 6 additional countries over ARRL's DXCC List of 340 making CQ's 346. Those additional entities are;

IG9/IH9 African Italy AF 33
GM/Shetland Shetland Is. EU 14
IT Sicily EU 15
TA1 European Turkey EU 20
4U1VIC ITU Vienna Int'l Center EU 15
JW Bear Is. EU 40

I had worked an IT9 in Sicily and it was scored as Italy (I) so the multiplier was not applied. I believe the contest is using the ARRL's DXCC Countries list, currently 340. If so, is there a way to have the additional 6 entities recognized as individual entities but only for CQWW and CQ DX Marathon ?? If these entities should already be recognized in the contest set-up or contest logform set-up I would like to know where to look to see why they are not being logged correctly.

Thanks for any help !

Hi Brad:

My first thought was to copy the ARRL DXCC list and make a new CQ DXCC list and manually add the 6 additional "countries". The problem would be setting those up to log automatically. Perhaps I will make CQ DXCC an integrated part of LOGic. i.e. there would be two DXCC fields.

Question, can all 6 additional countries be determined from the callsign?

The simple solution would be to set up a regular old user-defined field for these additional countries, and manually fill them in, and treat them as an additional multiplier. I will take a look at the contest forms and get back to you.

Tnx & 73,

Hi Dennis,

Hope you are well !!

My first thought as well, just copy ARRL DXCC, add/subtract from that. I believe the entity can be determined from the callsign only because CQWW does it from an ADIF file without any other identifier other than callsign. I will look to see if they have prefix specifics. My only concern on doing it this way was having almost duplicate DXCC lists with CQ's being the hardest to maintain.

My second thought was to create a DXCC-CQ list but only populate it with those six entities that make it different, but, don't know how LOGic would read that list first and if no matches then go to DXCC. That list would be small and very easy to maintain, but, more work to incorporate.

From a contesting perspective it is only a multiplier issue, maybe simple is the best approach.

Thanks for looking !!
