Hi Dennis

I downloaded update 80 and installed the update on my computer

When I started Logic, Logic did the indexing and then I get a message from Windows indicating Logic has quit working and is being shutdown. I downloaded update 80 again and reinstalled the update but got the same result.

I then tried to reinstall Update 79 but got the same result. I then did a system restore back to set point about 1 hour before I tried to install Update 80. The system restore restored Logic to version 79 & everything is working fine

Any ideas what my problem may be with Update 80

Hmmm, don't know. I found an old machine with .74 on it, installed .80, and it was fine. And I see several others have downloaded it already.

Let me put together a complete .80 install, and get that to you tomorrow. Something else could be corrupted. You could also check your disk for errors, and go to a DOS prompt and type

SFC /scannow

Sri for the problem.

I updated LOGic from 79 to 80 and now when I log a contact I get an error message.

If I IGNORE it, it shuts down LOGic, if I hit CANCEL, I can log the contact.
File Attachment(s):
LOGic 9.0.80 logging error.jpg (25kb) downloaded 48 time(s).

Dennis,

I had to do the same things happen that NU1B did after installing v80. Worked ok once first installed but after shutting program down, would stop working on restart. Back on v79 after system restore.

Ok. Tried to drop back to 79. Now when I start up I get the same OLE error reported earlier:

OLE error code 0x80020006:Unknow name.

Clicking cancel or ignore doesn't help, nor does re-booting.

Looks like we are dead in the water.

Please help

Was finally able to get 79 running again, but I had to drop back to a restore point from yesterday.

Thank you,

Dennis,

I was hasty in saying the problem had been fixed. When I installed the "new" v80 with the prefix table update it worked ok once when first installed but after shutting program down, would stop working on restart, even doing a clean before the restart. Troubleshooting, I made a copy of the prefix file database after the v80 install and before I started the program (the only thing I had done different before). I started reinstalled v80 program okay, then shut it down and tried to restart the program, the program stopped working on restart. I then ran clean again, deleted prefix db, copied my backup v80 prefix db file as THE prefix file. Restarted program and it ran okay. I think there is an issue with the prefix database after it is updated/indexed on restart of Logic9.

Your thoughts?

Ron

Hi Ron:

Are you saying there is a problem with the factory prefix table after you install it and reindex it? When I called, we deleted the existing prefix table, installed the .80 update, and restarted several times. I don't recall if we reindexed or not tho....

I just now tried on a non-development machine. Deleted prefix.dbf, installed the update (now .81 but the same prefix table), cleaned, restarted/reindexed, and all is good.

Here's an idea: Search for another Prefix.dbf table. There should be one prefix.dbf table in the DATA folder. If there are any others, LOGic could be picking that up instead of the one it is supposed to. I think the update installer clears prefix.dbf out of the install folder if it finds one there, but there could be others. Also search and destroy prefix.cdx and pfxndx.*. These all get recreated when you clean.

Vin: I fixed the error you reported when we talked. Get the .81 update.

Doug: Try the .81 update. If no go call me or let me know and I will call you.

Dennis,

Yes, I was only using the factory prefix table but now it keeps dying on me no matter what I do with the prefix database. Tried v81 too and it did same thing. Reinstalled v80 after clean and program restarted but says it is version 81, not 80 which is the one I just reinstalled. Don't want to shut it down now since issue is back.

Ron
