So far I have been unable to get LOGic to work with outlook.com mail service. Anybody else have some setting that work for the spot mailer?

Hi Mark:

Tell me what you tried and post a link to using outlook.com mail service from a generic mail client.

This might help:

http://answers.microsoft...-4e8a-9799-009d992be8e3

Assuming that is correct, for the Server field in LOGic, enter
smtp-mail.outlook.com:587

Select SSL for encryption.

Let us know!

Tnx & 73,

Dennis

OK tried that before and again just now

The error message says "The transport failed to connect to the server"

if you try it without ssl the mail server responds "The server response was: 530 5.7.0 Must issue a STARTTLS command first"

from a web browser you can login just fine ie: username and password are correct

Ok, assuming the info I found is correct, it looks like you did everything correctly. Where did you get the server and port information that you tried from?

Can you point me to some documentation on this mail service? Is it free (can I sign up and create an account to test on)? LOGic uses CDOSYS.DLL to send email, so if you find anything on accessing this with cdosys we are golden.

I went to outlook.com and didn't really find anything.

Tnx & 73,

Dennis WN4AZY

PS try port 25 just for bangs. I get a different error when I do that, which could indicate a bad user and password, which is true, since I made one up!

Outlook.com is a free mail service that is same as Hotmail but Microsoft's version. I understand that when Hotmail was bought by Microsoft the 2 mail services are being merged. Anyway you can signup for a free account here.

I did a search with "cdosys outlook.com" found this

http://support2.microsoft.com/kb/2028411

and the smtp setting here

Thanks for all you help Dennis!
