Recently started getting the following error starting LOGic.

Error 1426 "OLE error code 0x80080005: Server execution failed." has
occurred in program
LOGICAPP.AFTER_INIT, Line 0

Already tried the ever popular
logicserver /regserver
with no change in results.

Also tried to first clean indexes. LOGic starts and does the reindexing
then the long pause until I get the error:

OLE error code 0x80080005: Server execution failed.

Machine is running LOGic 9.0.63 on Windows 7 x64.

Any thoughts what to try?

Thanks, Don

Hi --

It doesn't sound like logicserver, but some other server. You can verify by renaming logicserver.exe to logicserver.exx. That way LOGic will not even try to load the server.

It does it only when starting? Does everything work OK otherwise? Try closing all windows, then restarting LOGic. Then open the windows one-at-a-time until the error occurs.

Thanks for the reply. I first upgraded to 9.0.64. No change but the callbook window fix works.

Next I renamed logicserver.exe to logicserver.exx and lOGic starts right up.
My file is dated 5/8/2006 with an MD5 checksum of 7F17EC2A808674DBFADEC4D42A16FC00.

I renamed it back.

My usual open windows are:
Log -- MAIN
Log -- MAIN (browse)
Other QSOs
Memberships
Progress 1 (DXCC)
Info
Spot Log
Telnet 1 (k4uga.tsars.uga.edu:599)
Watch (I presume spotting needs this)

I closed them, one at a time bottom-up from the above list until none.
Still got the long delay and the same error.

Thanks & 73s, Don

Ok, so I'm wrong -- it IS LOGicServer.exe.

The next thing I would try is giving your user admin rights, and make sure User Account Control is off.

Re-register LOGic Server after you have given yourself admin rights.

Make sure that LOGic isn't running in Compatibility mode. Right-click the LOGic icon, properties....

Let me know.

Dennis,
I disabled UAC and it did the same thing.

Ok, did you check that the user you run LOGic under has admin rights, and that logicserver.exe was registered when logged in as this user?

If you get rid of it (rename to LOGicserver.exx), does it create any problems for you?

Dennis,
Yes the user is admin. I had first tried the logicserver /regserver thing.
I can indeed rename the file and it starts up just fine. That begs the question: why
is it there and what does it do? (or supposed do?)

Thanks & 73s, Don

Strange, I don't know what is going on.

Here is another thing. I purposely unregistered mine, and got an error 1733 Class definition LOGICSERVER.SERVER not found" So the problem apparently isn't actually registering the server, but something with executing it.

It is for writing your own interface to LOGic.

I unregistered it to test:
From admin dos box: logicserver /unregister
and no change. Same error as before.

You say it's for writing my own interface. Is this the hook that HamScope uses??

Thanks & 73s
