About a year ago, plus a little, I had a disastrous computer failure and I seem to have lost 24 years' worth of log data. I have some hope that all or most of the data is lurking in a backup file or some other file. I have a couple of computers and several hard drives that have been removed at various times. I have access to a hard drive caddy that I can use to search for the data.

The data should be in the format used for LOGic 8. I have used Logic since version 5 or 6 and have faithfully transferred the data with each upgrade. I am presently running LOGic9.

I would like some advice on how to search, such as... What is the file extension used? And, what form is used to name the file. Example: k4to.??? or k4tologdata.??? Knowing this info would give me some start in how to search. I know I have made backups to CD and DVD over the years. I just have to know what I'm looking for.

Any info would be appreciated.

Good luck with the quest. 24 years is a lot to lose.

In LOGic 8, your log data will all be in a folder/directory called "LOGDATA" in a file called "LOG.DBF".

If you find them, look UP one folder in the hierarchy - it should be called LOGic or LOGic8 - and in there, and the folders below will be everything you need.

Thank you Peter!! I got an error message when I posted this and I didn't think it had made it into the forum. So I was surprised to see that I got an answer to something I didn't think was there -- HI. This should be very helpful.

Get log.fpt as well as log.dbf. It has the notes and addresses.
