If you used your own prefix (something other than Z8) for Southern Sudan when the country became active, this is how to change to the official Z8 prefix.
This procedure will work regardless of what prefix you used for the new Southern Sudan in the interim between DXCC approval and assignment of official the prefix.
A word to the wise, a backup never hurts!
Make sure you have to 9.0.38 or later version of LOGic. Click on Tools/Setup/List of Valid Values.
Locate the new Southern Sudan record. Here is one way to do it: Click Filter (the funnel button). Next to MISC, enter 521 (this is the ARRL identifier for Southern Sudan). Click OK. Make sure that the Field Name is DXCC. Right-click the filter button to clear the filter. This is necessary for the next step to succeed.
Click the CHANGE VALUE button. Enter Z8 for the new value. This will update the Lists table and your log.
As of 9.0.49, an updated prefix table is included with the update. If you prefer to make the changes to the prefix table yourself, click Tools/Setup/Prefix. The CHANGE VALUE function of the Lists form changed the DXCC field, but you need to change the Prefixes list. Click the Get button (binoculars). Enter Z8 for DXCC. Add Z8 to the PREFIXES list. Our list had ST0,6T0,6U0 I changed it to Z8,ST0 (that is ST-ZERO, not ST-Oh). I figure that there are probably stations still using their interim ST0 calls that you might work.
