If you used your own prefix (something other than Z8) for Southern Sudan when the country became active, this is how to change to the official Z8 prefix.

This procedure will work regardless of what prefix you used for the new Southern Sudan in the interim between DXCC approval and assignment of official the prefix.

A word to the wise, a backup never hurts!

Make sure you have to 9.0.38 or later version of LOGic. Click on Tools/Setup/List of Valid Values.

Locate the new Southern Sudan record. Here is one way to do it: Click Filter (the funnel button). Next to MISC, enter 521 (this is the ARRL identifier for Southern Sudan). Click OK. Make sure that the Field Name is DXCC. Right-click the filter button to clear the filter. This is necessary for the next step to succeed.

Click the CHANGE VALUE button. Enter Z8 for the new value. This will update the Lists table and your log.

As of 9.0.49, an updated prefix table is included with the update. If you prefer to make the changes to the prefix table yourself, click Tools/Setup/Prefix. The CHANGE VALUE function of the Lists form changed the DXCC field, but you need to change the Prefixes list. Click the Get button (binoculars). Enter Z8 for DXCC. Add Z8 to the PREFIXES list. Our list had ST0,6T0,6U0 I changed it to Z8,ST0 (that is ST-ZERO, not ST-Oh). I figure that there are probably stations still using their interim ST0 calls that you might work.

Tnx & 73,

Here is the update to change the Niue prefix. It updates your log, DXCC list, and prefix table. Your existing prefix table is not overwritten. It is merely updated.

SB DX ARL ARLD033
ARLD033 ITU Assigns New Prefix for Niue: E6A-E6Z

On August 3, the ITU updated its Table of International Call Sign
Series to reflect a call sign change for Niue. The island will now
have the entire E6 prefix block. Niue -- an island approximately
1500 miles northeast of New Zealand -- is a self-governing island
nation that has been in free association with New Zealand since
1974. Prior to the change, the island used ZK2. According to the CIA
World Factbook, Niue is about 1.5 times the size of Washington, DC,
and has a population of almost 1300 people.

Here is the new ARRL Section table for changes to Ontario.

To install, download the attached file and save somewhere where you can find it. In LOGic, go to tools/setup/list of valid values. Double-click ARRL SECT in the NAVIGATE TO LIST control. Click the IMPORT LIST button and select the file you downloaded.

For LOGic 9, but should work for any version of LOGic that has an Import button on the lists table screen. Here is the info you need to add the four new sections yourself. Do not delete ON. Just mark it as deleted.

Here is an Oblast list, taken from http://www.dxzone.com/cg.../dir/jump2.cgi?ID=24804 It corresponds with the prefix table available with the 9.0.48 update. Download OBL.DBF, save it somewhere, then go to Tools/Setup/Lists of valid values, and click IMPORT.

I left the old numeric oblast records.

Note that there is a new prefix table. It is included with the 9.0.48 update. I am not posting it here as it uses new wildcard matching features not supported by previous releases. Click Here.

Here is the latest DXCC list as of January 2, 2013.

Note that MALYJ VYSOTSKI IS, 4J1, ARRL# 151 was deleted as of Feb 16, 2012. This change is reflected in this update.

Attached is the current DXCC list. To install, save download it and save it somewhere where you can find it. Run LOGic. Go to tools/setup/list of valid values. Click the IMPORT button. Select the DXCC.DBF file that you downloaded. Now click Awards on the menu bar, then UPDATE AWARDS PROGRESS INFO.

To check this in your current list, go to tools/setup/list of valid values. Click the binocular button. Type DXCC for field name, and 4J1 for value. Make sure DELETED is checkmarked.

The total DXCC should be 340 non-deleted and 61 deleted.

No. The DXCC list, oblasts, ARRL Sect etc is not in the program update.

The latest prefix table is available ONLY from the program update. I'll simplify by getting rid of the prefix table update on this forum.

I think I'll start posting the factory Lists.DBF table here for those who want it. I don't include it with the update because it would overwrite custom lists. At some point I hope to have single-click to update all the standard stuff.

Tnx & 73,

DH

Can we revisit Niue? I just logged E6GG and nothing was filled in the DXCC field. I have 9.0.72 installed. I was confused as to whether I should check the box "update prefix table" so I didn't when I ran the install yesterday. So when this problem turned up I redid the install and checked the box. Still seems wrong. I manually filled in ZK2 for now but that is not right as I understand it. According to Clublog the correct prefix is E6:

For QSOs on 2015-09-17 21:05...
E6GG maps by prefix to NIUE
ADIF 188 [E6]
CQ Zone: 32 — Continent: OC
Location: -19.00°N -169.90°E
Beam heading: 250°
SR 17:11 / SS 05:15

Yes/no?

I see there was an update 3 years ago to fix this problem but seems like that fix should have been integrated by now.

Thanks.

Hi Bill:

LOGic definitely has E6 in the factory prefix table. Look in yours and see if it is there. See the attached screen shot.

Let me know.

I have the same problem as Bill. While E6 is in the table, if you filter the table for E6, nothing is found. Also, if you enter E6GG into the log, no DXCC is put into the record.

Same here, Dennis. Enter E6GG as a contact, and the DXCC field stays blank.

Hi Mauro. I don't think this solves the problem because Niue is E6, not ZK2 according to the ARRL countries list. Here is a copy/paste from DXCoffee:

"On August 3, the ITU updated its Table of International Call Sign Series to reflect a call sign change for Niue Island. The island will now have the entire E6 prefix block. Niue, an island approximately 1700 miles northeast of New Zealand, is a self-governing island nation that has been in free association with New Zealand since 1974. Prior to the change, the island used ZK2. Niue, which is about 1.5 times the size of Washington, DC, has a population of almost 600 people."

Fortunately my contacts, logged as ZK2, show up on LOTW as E6 now.

Hello Bob,
Thank you for the information.
I was not aware of the change of the prefix for Niue; To date the Niue was a DXCC missing.
You're right, I have not solved the problem. With your help I proceeded to change my prefix table archive in Logic.
I do not understand why my archive wasn't updated. I probably made a mistake when I reinstalled the logic on my new Windows 10 system
Thank you.

Does the correct DXCC come up when you enter E6GG? For me, I have the .72 update including the prefix table, but I still have the problem we've been discussing.

Hi Bob,
I have updated the table prefix manually and everything works perfectly.
I still had Niue with ZK2 as DXCC and do not understand why.
However now everything is ok. E6GG return E6 in DXCC field.
I'm using .72 and Win10 ... often i have problems starting Logic.
