Hi Dennis,

Have you ever considered making joining the forum moderated? I sure would favor that. I just saw an ad for tennis shoes that was posted today. I've seen a number of other commercial ads in the last month or so that have nothing to do with Logic or ham radio. We obviously have a user or users that is/are spamming us. I understand why you can't just toss them (they would be back in 10 seconds with a new call and email address). If you approved the new members then you could require that they tell you a little about their ham station or use another way to make you think they were real hams before you approved them (it would be more work but you could require a call and address then look them up on QRZ or Logic)!

Just a thought.

Thanks,

Bill

It hasn't been a hube problem until recently.

I was thinking about at least parsing the callsign to make sure it is a legitimate callsign, and possibly asking some sort of question that a ham could answer easily but requre some research on the part of an outsider.

I guess I could go to their web hoster and get their web site shut down. Or retaliate in some other way. Change their links to a competitor's web site then lock them out so they can't fix it. Or we all go to their web site and place an order with a made-up credit card number that won't approve, or all of us just send them messages telling them we will be buing our shoes elsewhere....

Oh, I know what to do! They have to give me their email address to sign up. I can post that on a public page somewhere so that every spam bot in the world picks them up!
