Dennis, as cheap as storage is these days ie. Multi GB capacity thumb drives for <$20, is there any point to LOGic compressing data during a backup any longer and slowing down the process?

Probably not. Even flash drives are huge by LOGic's standards. However, we have to do something to combine log.dbf and log.fpt in the same file. So maybe faster but less effective compression? Compression is pretty fast nowdays too. Maybe not the library that LOGic uses tho....

The backup and restore was designed back when space was at a premium. A much better way to back up when space isn't an issue is to simply copy the whole LOGic folder somewhere (or ZIP the LOGic folder. That is large enough that space may still be an issue).

Thanks for your thoughts.

Yeah, my entire LOGic directory including lots of eqsl photos and 20k contacts is less than 3GB. Excellent point!

I learned a hard lesson 6 years ago when I lost my main hard drive and my entire log. Now I make 2 copies of the LOGic folder "weekly" to 2 different external drives. It may be overkill but I don't want to re-live that horrible day 6 years ago.
