My Logic9 locks up and needs to be reset continuously when in the spot log, alerts, setup.

I entered Bouvet Island then 3Y.

It didn't like that and totally froze the computer and had to do a Ctrl-Alt-Delete multiple times and upon restarting Logic, it had to go through the entire procedure to run the program.

It think I was able to clear the problem it by getting into the alerts, setup and removing the spot entry before the crash.

Any ideas what's going on?

Does LOGic work if you don't setup a alert?

How did you set it up?

Click the "+" to add a alert.
Use the Wizard and select "3Y-B" under DXCC
Click OK

Tnx,

Didn't know how to use the wizard and you explained it perfectly.

I think it is working now.

Thanks Kyle:

Bill, you shouldn't be able to enter an invalid expression for Alerts. If you can tell me how you did it, I can fix it to prevent future problems. I played around with it and did manage to get an invalid expression entered, but not sure what I did. I'll keep on it.

Tnx & 73,

OK, not knowing what the wizard actually did, I did this.

In the boxes "Description" & "select Criteria", I just placed data in there and clicked on OK. Not sure if I clicked on the "+" first or later one after I entered the data.

I did not do anything with the "Wizard" until it was explained to me and now it is functioning nicely.

Suggestion and maybe a simple fix, the Description and Criteria could be subdued (not allow any entries) until info is put in the Wizard ?

Hope this explanation helps.

Regards,
Bill

More.........

IOW, it was not apparent to me that I had to use the Wizard first to get info in the Description and Select Criteria fields.

We want to leave the option to manually enter an expression, as the wizard does not cover every possible scenario.

Pressing {ESC} would bypass some error checking. I fixed it. Thanks for bringing this to my attention!
