This new feature, introduced with LOGic 9.1.37, allows you to capture RS-232 all data going to and from a radio or rotor. This is invaluable during the development of a LOGic interface for a new rig, but also for troubleshooting. We recently had one case where a radio suddenly stopped interfacing to LOGic. By capturing the data coming back from the rig, it was easy to see that the rig was not sending the data that is expected for that model of rig. A hard reset of the rig solved the problem.

To enable Com Port Data Logging, go to tools/setup/misc ham setup. On the General tab, checkmark the appropriate checkbox. Close the setup form and operate the rig a little.

To see the data, exit LOGic or click Tools/Turn Off Radio and Rotor interfaces. Using Windows explorer, go to the TMP folder inside the folder in which LOGic is installed. This is typically C:\Program Files (x86)\LOGic\tmp. LOGic creates a log file for each COM port that is in use. Look for a file named COMn_log.txt, where n in the com port number. So com1_log.txt for example. They are text files that may be read with Notepad or any text editor.

Be sure to turn off Com Port Data Logging when you are done gathering your data. Leaving it on consumes lots of disk space.

You may delete the log files when you are done with them. New ones will be created the next time you turn on Com port logging.
If you start a new logging session and the log file exists, the new data will be appended to the bottom of the log file. The start of each session is clearly indicated.


Com Port Data Logging only works with LOGic's non-legacy interfaces.
