Hi,

I used Logic a number of years ago, Logic 4, and recently got back on the air and upgraded to Logic 9 but I can't restore from my Logic 4 backups. Is there anyone out there who might be able to read my backup and give me a logic 4 database file that will allow me to import them in to Logic 9? I would really like to have my old logs!

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Hi--

Post your LOGic 4 backup here (zip it first) or email it to me and I will take a look. I talked with someone who was going to email it, but I apparently didn't get it.

Tnx/73,

Hi Dennis,

I think it was me, I did email it but maybe it got stripped in the email? I don't know? I will post it tonight after work, it isn't very big and I will make sure to zip it before posting it. Thank you so much for looking at it for me!

Ok, the size isn't so much the issue, but the forum is particular about what extensions it lets you upload.

Hi Dennis,

I was just wondering if you have had any luck? No pressure, just curious...

Sorry, haven't had time to look at it. Thanks for the reminder. Sorry to be so slow. I'll move it up the list!

Ok, good news!

Attached is the LOG.dbf and log.dbt which I restored from the LOGic 4 backup you sent. Download the attached, unzip, and save the contents where you can find it. In LOGic 9, select tools/import/logic 3 and 4. It asks if you want LOGic to scan for LOGic 4 data. Say NO. Locate the data yourself.

I just tested to see that it did indeed import. I didn't review the data very carefully. Let me know if you see any problems.

In case anyone is interested how I was able to restore the LOGic 4 backup: As you know, Windows 7, at least the 64-bit version, will not run 16-bit programs. I worked around this by installing Windows XP mode on Win 7 Pro, installing LOGic 4 DOS to that, doing the restore, then getting log.dbf and log.fpt.

Tnx & 73,

You are on the right track. I was getting an error saying that LOGic is 16 bit and can't be run when I tried to run it on Win 7 64 Pro.
