Hi Dennis,

I have reported this before but never received an answer.

When I program the CW keyer to call CQ on a function key, then pause 6 seconds (to allow someone to answer) and then call CQ again it works just fine. I have it programmed to call CQ five times that way. The problem comes when someone answers during any of those six second pauses. The only way to stop the process to answer a station that comes back is to hit the cancel key. When I do that about 50% of the time it crashes Logic. By crash I mean Logic quits running and I end back at Windows.

There is always a panic when that happens.... Just as I want to enter information in Logic I have to run Clean (it prompts me to do that) then restart Logic. It comes back and re-initializes the database then runs just fine with no loss of data and all the forms open and where they should be.

This has been happening ever since I've owned Logic and upgrades have not changed the problem.

I am using the CW keyer interface cable I purchased with Logic and running Windows 7 on a fast computer.

Have you got any thoughts on how this can be solved?

Thank you,

Bill

Ok, no errors or anything -- LOGic just exits?

Are you using a Prolific-based USB=>RS232 adapter? They are always suspect.

Actually, you should be able to just start transmitting and it will cancel the repeat. Give that a try.

I will try it here.

Tnx & 73,

Hi Dennis,

Yes, Logic just exits without putting up any errors.

I am using Icom's CT-17 for the RS-232 interface to the radio. If you feel the interface you are selling will do a better job send it and charge my credit card. I do need two outputs on the radio side of the interface. In my case one goes to my PW-1 amplifier and the other goes to my IC-7800 radio. That is why I stayed with the CT-17 as it has four radio ports.

I'm not sure what you meant by transmit to stop the CW keyer from sending. I tried typing on the keyboard with the cursor in the Live Keyboard window for input and it just appends what I type at the end of the stacked up CQs that Logic is sending. I also tried sending with a key attached to my rig.

Neither of those stopped the sending of what was programmed in the CW keyer.

Thanks again for your help on this.

No, the CT-17 isn't the issue. I am referring to the port on the compter where the keyer plugs into.

If the CT-17 is plugged into an incompatible USB=>RS232 adapter, I still don't think that would cause the Keyer to crash. But it would be easy to test. Just temporarily disable the CAT interface.

The CW keyer is supposed to stop repeating when you transmit -- it is clearly documented. I will fix it.

Thanks,

Dennis
