Hi recently installed 9.53 and now logic9 hangs when starting up the spot window. I'm using windows 7, binging up the task manager and killing the hung program causes it to clean on the next program restart and everything is fine until I shut down the PC and start Logic again.

I Rolled back to 9.50 but the problem continues.

Any help you can offer would be great.

Hi--

Sorry for the problem. Not sure WHAT is going on. It isn't likely the update anyway.

I assume it was working. Has any hardware changed -- different sound card or anything? Were you using announcement of any kind?

To set everything in the spot log back to default, look for a file named FORM.INI in the LOGic install folder. Edit with notepad or whatever, then look for the [spotlog] section. Delete it and all lines under it until you get to the next section.

Tnx & 73,

DH

Thanks for the reply Dennis, No hardware changes here. I performed the delition you outlined to the forms file, unfortuntialy it still locked up after compleation of the spot download. Anything else I could try?

Thanks

Also,(still) after preforming the "Clean" it works great, until I shut down and restart the system. Thanks

Ok, so if you do a CLEAN, it works fine, spotting and all, until you turn off and reboot your computer? Then you have to do a CLEAN again?

Perfromed more troubleshooting tonight. I disconnected all of the usb devices and found that Logic will start normally (execpt for error messages due to unconnected devices).

Reconnecting one at a time I find logic hangs on startup when Winkeyer is connected. Ulplugging the keyer causes the program to terminate. Also using a different USB port will allow the program to start, but when I exit logic I get (Winkeyform Ref error). On the next start up of logic I have to reselect the com port for the keyer.

I unstalled the comport that winker uses, then reinstalled it, but I get the same results.

Succcess! Downloading the com port drivers from the winkeyer site and forcing a manual update seems to have resolved the issue.

Thanks for the info.

Do you have some sort of WinKeyer with a built-in USB=>RS232 converter? Mine just has a 9-pin RS-232 port on it and therefore does not have drivers.

I use the Winkeyer USB version, It has worked great with Logic 9. I worked a couple of cw contest's with this setup, about 400 contacts in total. I need it since I have developed a very lousy fist in the past few years.

Writing those USB => RS232 drivers must be a real black art. It seems almost no one gets it right :-(
