Hi Dennis.
I cannot get my FT847 (New Rom) to work with LOGic9.
There are no hardware issues, as it works OK with TRX Manager.
I can get it to work with LOGic by using TRX Manager as proxy, but that creates other problems, outside of LOGic, which I won't go into here.
Many Thanks

Hi John:

Please tell me more. Do you get error messages, do some features not work, or what?

For starters, make sure the baud rate etc is correct. Copy the setings from TRX-Manager.

Hi Dennis.

Under LOGic I get the error..
"A timeout occurred while attempting to communicate with a rig"

I've tried different baud rates, stop bits etc, but to no avail. That's with the New Rom driver. `Nr 14.
With the "old rom" driver, I get no error, but it doesn't do anything.
It works OK with TRX Manager at any baud rate.
It never worked with LOGic 8 either, I always used TRX Manager as a work around.

Hi Dennis.

No luck at all with this FT-847 and LOGic. I've been around the "Rig and Rotor Troubleshooter" numerous times.
I have tried another Ft-847, I've even changed the MAX232 chip in my rig. No Joy.
However, as stated previously, it works fine with TRX Manager and HRD, so I think it's a driver problem.
Is there anyone on here who is successfully controlling an FT-847 with LOGic9? I asked on the FT-847 reflector,
but could find nobody.

I think it may be a ROM issue.

Look here
http://hosenose.com/Foru...arch.aspx?search=FT-847
and search for 847.

Let me know.

Tnx & 73,

Dennis

Hi Dennis.

It works fine with TRX Manager and HRD.
If it was a ROM issue, it surely wouldn't work with other software?

Well, not necessarily. If the other software packages are expecting the old ROM and LOGic is expecting the new....

The equivalent driver for the 847 old ROM would be the FT-736 driver in LOGic.

Does TRX-Manager READ the frequency from the rig? In other words, if you spin the VFP knob, does the TRX display update? If so, you have the new ROM. If not you have the old.

Did you have LOGic 8, and did it work with that? The legacy drivers in LOGic 9 are copies of the LOGic 8 drivers FYI.

Hi Dennis

I've tried both drivers under LOGic 8 and 9. As I said before, the FT847 never worked with either 8 or 9.
I didn't have the FT-847 when I was using LOGic 4,5,6 or 7, so I can't say if it worked with those versions.
TRX Manager does update the frequency as you tune, so I have the new ROM.

Hi Dennis.

I had a mail from a guy on the FT-847 reflector, who suggested I go into the extended menu on the 847, and set the "clone rate" to match whatever the CAT Baud rate was set to. I have just done that, and for the first time in World History..it works!! I didn't figure that "clone rate" had anything to do with "CAT rate", but seemingly it has.
Anyway it's now working, and all that remains is to apologise sincerely for taking up your time, and to thank you for your patience.
As I was using TRX Manager as a workaround up 'til now, it wasn't an issue, but from now on I'll be using an LP Pan, with CW Skimmer, Nap 3 etc, so computer resources need to be rationed.
Thanks again! and sorry for the QRM Dennis.

No, thank YOU. I was not aware of "clone rate". I will leave this thread here for posterity or move it to the FAQ.

Thanks for letting us know.

73,

Dennis

P.S. I wonder why TRX-Manager worked? I'll ask Laurent. hihi.

Hi Dennis.
I'm sorry to report that the cure only lasted 'til I shut down my computer. Unfortunately I'm back to square one.
I got it working again briefly, by configuring it as a new radio.. i.e. made it radio 4 instead of radio 3. It ran OK 'til I shut down LOGic, and restarted it.
It continues to work OK with TRX Manager and HRD. I have failed to find anyone else running LOGic with an FT847.
