Dennis,

I'm getting a strange error message when I launch LOGic9. The error box at the top says "announce.vcx announcer.initialize_announce." In the box are all kinds of details. It's long and I can't copy and paste it here, but the essence seems to be that file or assembly called "SlimDX" or one of its dependencies could not be loaded. At the end it says that an attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format. Once I click OK, LOGic seems to run normally. Any ideas?

Well, an update upon importing data from the just completed ARRL 10M contest, the program crashed. The data did seem to be imported OK.

I seemed to have solved the problem by reinstalling the program from the original CD-ROM. Wonder what happened to create the problem?

Well, one problem solved and another, more minor, discovered. I did a batch callbook to log update, filtered for only QSOs from today's ten meter contest. The update went OK, but at the end, when I tried to close the batch update dialogue box, I got some strange message about not resubmitting if I was making a payment on a web page (very strange). The message said that if I wasn't making a payment to click on retry. This caused the program to crash. After starting the program again, all of the QSO in the batch update had been updated. Thought you'd want to know about this issue, though it didn't seem to cause any lasting harm.

Hi Carl:

Good to hear from you. Hope all is well.

It sounds like the DirextX sound library got unregistered somehow. What you did was the correct thing.

Are you using QRZ.COM web site for callbook lookup? If so, that is probably the culprit. Definitely not an error coming from LOGic per se.

See here:
http://www.hosenose.com/...web-site-and-LOGic.aspx

The free HamQTH.COM is pretty good.

Let me know.

Tnx & 73, Merry Christmas,

Dennis, yes I was using qrz.com subscription from within LOGic. I hope that you and yours had a very Merry Christmas, and will have a healthy and prosperous New Year! 73 de Carl, N8VZ

Ok, I'm confused because the error message in post #4 sounds like it is coming from a web browser, but the QRZ Subscription does not use a web browser in any way, shape, or form.

Sometimes people THINK they are using the subscription merely because they paid for it, but in fact have not turned on the QRZ Subscription in LOGic and continue to use the QRZ.COM web site.

Anyway, glad it's working.

Happy new year!

Hmm . . . well, I checked and I have the qrz.com subscription turned on in the callbook setup and have qrz.com disabled. I'll let you know if I experience this again when I next do a batch update. Happy New Year! -- Carl
