Hi Dennis,

Will you please add W8A and N8A to the prefix table under KH8? W8A is on now on many bands and they will use the call N8A during the DX contest.

You might set it up so they expire in 30 days since those calls are really US calls and not normally American Samoa.

This weird call thing is getting out of hand (just my frustration with it). I wish they would not issue that type of call to a DX location.

73,
Bill

G'Day Bill,

Perhaps this is a real case for "user" entries in the Prefix Table, and should NOT be in the "official list".

As you say W8A and N8A is miss-allocated - should be K not KH8.

Two things are possible ...

Perhaps the "applicant" knew more than the "clerk" allocating the calls, and should not have accepted this allocation for use in American Samoa - and gently persisted, until a correct call for KH8 was allocated.

Or

The "clerk" is correct based on the material he/she received, and "the applicant" should be operating as KH8/W8A or KH8/N8A. Just like KH8/N9YU is doing as I type.

The latter is obviously not a good idea for a busy DXpedition.

With my limited experience I am not the one to adjudicate the issue either way.

But, given this is just about personal logging of QSOs, my personal preference would be for the entry to remain for ever a "user entry" limited by dates.

I wonder what others are thinking - probably "work them first, worry later". Will the ARRL be concerned about the actual call-sign used, for the purposes of DXCC awards?

Added to my master. Thanks!

.

I entered W8A_ and N8A_. This will prevent W8ABC from triggering this one. Even without the date, these entries will not cause a problem unless someone uses them as a special-event call in West Virginia or something.

Tnx & 73,
